Prior Art

Not much was found during research on prior projects tackling the same problem. It seems that many people are content cleaning their glasses manually because of the accessibility of their t-shirts and hands.

Only one product was found in the same design space:

The closest product that we have found is a past Kickstarter campaign for a hands-free lens-cleaning device. The Kickstarter, which garnered a very large interest and exceeded its fundraising goal, failed and never went to production ultimately because it was designed with small motors used to turn the cleaning fans that simply weren’t strong enough.

Our design works around this fatal flaw by foregoing electrical power altogether in favor of a hand-powered crank. We believe this device is novel because, during our research period, we found no other inventions in the design space of personal glasses cleaning.
